We've had a few ski adventures this year. I bought 7 days of skiing, and it's been a bit of a crunch trying to get them used. Next year, I think we'll go for just 4, but it's forced us to make the time, which has it's advantages. :)
This was Cannon Mountain.
We had a great day, but decided that Cannon Mtn is not our favorite, but now we can check it off our list of one we have seen. It had a beautiful tram ride and view and is the historic Mountain where the iconic "Man of the Mountain" was before it fell.
Loon Mountain was a very enjoyable day. We were up at 5:30 to get a great parking spot
had great snow, moderately long lines, but a very nice day.
Sunapee
We had a great day at Sunapee, but had a rocky start.
The snow was a bit icy and two lifts were closed of the 4, so the lines were insane long.
After we ate an early lunch, one lift opened and cleared the crowds and we had a GREAT day enjoying some glades and fun skiing with some of Aarons friends.
One thing about the morning ice that was cool was that the freezing rain had left ice on all the trees and they were so beautiful in the sun!
Miss Cora is still just a little sunshine and tornado
She enjoyed Ellis's frozen birthday party, and making a homemade snowman
She loves to decide what to wear in the morning
She made this K for me
And getting a new clear backpack was an exciting day for her this week.
She made this "Star Student" poster in only 90 minutes with
some fun things about herself for school.
Ollie keep us laughing and on our toes.
He loves playing with friends.
I caught a rare moment when I could watch him sleep
Playhouses are one of his favorite things
He loves storytime at the library
"Look Mama! I have red hair!"
He's nearly potty trained. Staying dry 90% of the time.
We finally had my 2nd cousin, Kirsti, and her family up for dinner, and had a great time with them! Kirsti's mother and my dad are first cousins, and we happen to be in the same church congregation. So much fun!
Rant about Jury Duty
(If you want to skip this, just skip down to "rant over")
This week, Scott started jury duty. Oh my goodness. This has been such a pain.I was called to jury duty in Salt Lake City for a week and a day, long ago. It was a vacation for me. A change of scene. I still got paid. Got to do something different. No big deal, and a combination of semi-boring and somewhat interesting too. I got an hour for lunch each day to walk around downtown. I loved it.
I was called to jury duty in Michigan too. Spent one morning at the courthouse, while Scott took the morning off work to watch the kids. The end. Not terribly inconvenient, and I think I got a check for $17.
I've always thought jury duty was a reasonable citizens duty until now.
In NH this has been a HUGE pain. If they call you, you have to come in for 5 Mondays in a row.
Scott got called to jury duty last year. He took a day off work to be at the courthouse, and told them he had a conference, so they let him defer. But, he gets no credit for that day. Then, they asked him to come another time when we would be visiting family, deferred again. He was told NO MORE DEFERRALS.
So, he went in Monday and has to spend the WHOLE WEEK in jury duty. And then is he done? Nope. He has to go back every Monday for 4 weeks to see if he's called for more weeks of jury duty. This is insane hard for him to make this time.
My friend Stacey, who has a nursing baby, was asked to do the same thing last month, and was told that she could not bring her baby. I couldn't believe they wouldn't excuse her for that. One week, sure, but 5 weeks in a row?! I think it's too much to ask.
Rant Over
Today was voting day, so we had no school! I made muffins, taught a yoga class, and let the kids come so that we could swim after. The pools at this location are not nearly so kid friendly, so we were playing in one lap lane trying not to bother all the exercisers. Next time.....kid location! The kids still said they LOVED being in the pool and were glad we went.
We then had lunch and went to the library for a little valentines chocolate fondue party.
I voted in the 2020 Presidential Primaries. Then, we watched "ZOOM" on Netflix, which the kids very much enjoyed.

Cora was enamoured with the characters. She pretended to be each of the superheros:
Captain ZOOM
Princess (Super Strong girl)
Wonder (Can elevate things)
Mega Boy
(Can expand his body parts)
Houdini (invisible boy)
Hope you enjoy the updates from time to time
Much love to all of you,
Katie and Scott
