Camera Shy

Well, we promised to post a pic every week so that Timmy's growth could be closely monitored by viewers like you. Timmy is doing awesome! He has this bone-curling scream which must match my resonance frequency, because I can feel every bone in my body shake when he goes into this particular brand of shrieking. I'm an a new quest to capture the event digitally so that you can all share in my pain, but the cry has proven quite elusive. I think he knows, and only wants his good side to show on the blog. Whenever I pull out the camera, he manages to pull himself together and be quite civilized. As you can tell from this particular cameo, he was able to switch his facial expression from a crusty "I'm relieving myself, and it's hard work" face to a "I wonder who I'll vote for for the next democratic presidential canidate" look. Speaking of the crying, here it goes again, right now, but I'm not even going to go for the camera, because he'll quit before I get upstairs, and I will have gotten up for nothing. I'm considering a hidden camera in the stuffed bear, but he might know the bears bugged and take him out. Kids these days!

Timmy Time

Hi Friends and Family,

We've had a great week with Mom and Dad Parker visiting. With Scott's rigorous schedule at school this week (FINALS!!), it has been especially important that Mom and Dad were here to help Katie and Timmy recover, and we have appreciated it immensely.

Every day with Timmy has been a learning experience for Scott and I, and we are enjoying him very much. We just love to look at him and hold him, and we're having a great time! He is teaching us all about love and parenthood, and how to live on less/interrupted sleep.

Mom and Dad have come in, cleaned our house, fed us, made home repairs, and helped us take care of Timmy. We ventured out of the house yesterday to visit the Ford Museum, and even got a photo of Timmy with Santa!

Here is a video of Grandma Parker holding Timmy, and us giving him his first bath at home.

We hope you are enjoying the holidays! - Katie, Scott and Timmy

Day 2: Unveiling of the name

Well, we've finally decided on a name other than "Baby Awesome." We decided to name him after two of the men we most look up to, our fathers.:

"... Behold, I have given unto you the names of our first parents... and this I have done that when you remember your names ye may remember them; and when ye remember them ye may remember their works; and when ye remember their works ye may know how that it is said, and also written, that they were good. Therefore, my sons, I would that ye should do that which is good, that it may be said of you, and also written, even as it has been said and written of them. "

The Book of Mormon, Helaman 5:6-7

So, Timothy Kent Stapleton will hopefully live up to his namesakes and do great things. Although all he does now is eat, sleep, cry, and poop, we think it's great (that's the twisted thing about being a parent: I never thought it would happen to me). It's getting late, and I've been running on negative sleep, so I'll have to tell the story of KT's Journey of Birth later.

New Baby

The first pictures of the New Baby have arrived. Right now, we call him "awesome" but by the next post he should have a good christian name. We are very tired because of the labor, so I'm just posting a few pics to satisfy everyones curiosity. Hopefully, when we regain our senses, we'll be able to post something a little more substantial. He weighs in at 7 lb 9 oz., with a 20 in length, and a head that could be mistaken as that belonging to an extra terrestrial (ie. cone-head). He arrived at 2:36 wednesday morn, after his mom fought the good fight and emerged victorious.

Preggo pic

We're getting down to the wire now, so it's about time to post a "look at me, I'm really pregnant!" picture. This particular picture was taken in the baby's room (which we just painted).

Katie's not getting any vibes that he wants to come out anytime soon, so he's probably pretty comfortable in there. Which you can understand: if I was in a nice, warm place where I didn't have to worry about eating, breathing, or getting a sunburn, I wouldn't be in a particular hurry to get out either.

Starting Out

Hey Y'all: we decided that if we are going to start getting tons and tons of cuuuute baby pics, we'd better set up a forum for us to show them off.

We've moved into the luxurious student housing, and we are just waiting for the little one to make his grand entrance. Scott's been an absent father these days due to the overwhelming volume of homework he has been recieving. Meanwhile, Katie is trying to make our place a home, and do enough favors for the neighbors that they will all owe us babysitting time when we need it.

However, we have been having fun sometimes: we went to our first Michigan Football game at the BIG HOUSE!! We've never seen so many people all dressed in yellow at one time.

Katie picked up her parents and went down to Nauvoo the second week of school. It was nice for her to see the church sites and spend time with her parents.

We also went to Niagra Falls over fall break. Massive amounts of water + Casinos and wax museums = Plenty of family fun!! This picture features the greatest poncho's in the world! We saved ours, and I was thinking of having it bronzed to display above the fireplace.

Now, the leaves are falling and the weather is thinking about getting chilly. We are surrounded by forest, so we had to include a classic "dead leaves in the forest" picture.
