Mobiles

Hey y'all, I'm mostly posting this to show my mom some of the stuff I've been making lately. I'm kind of a hands-on guy, but my research here keeps me permanently chained to the computer. This summer, I've had the darndest time keeping my motivation in such an electronic world. Therefore, to achieve needed balance in my life, I've been making these mobiles like a madman. I know it might sound a little artsy, but I think these mobiles are the engineer's art. The guy who made the first (and probably best) mobiles, Alexandar Calder, had an engineering education. Anyway, I've been really getting into it, and I think I'm getting a little bit better each time I make one. I'm using pretty primitive tools, but it works. I might try to sell some sometime, they sell for quite a bit at art stores here in Ann Arbor. However, it might be like all of my fads: I hit it hard for a bit, and then go on the the next thing.

Fabulous Trip to Utah

We just had such a great trip to visit family in Utah. Here is us in the beautiful Millcreek wildflowers.
It was so much fun to play around with all the neices and nephews.
We spent a whole week in Millcreek Canyon and had a blast!
Robby and Jennifer joined us and were super-fun hiking buddies and competitive boardgamers. We had many a fun late-night playing Adam's crazy epic board games.
Timmy in all his cuteness. Aunt Robby lent him a backpack, a crib, a carseat...the WORKS! He was set!

Ellie's hair was so classic in the morning...it reminded me of Anna when she was that age.
Hiking to church?? Yep! We had our own church meeting up the Woodbury Trail.
Luke, Cade and Anna.... funny cousins!
Scott, Nancy and Brooklyn up the Great Western Trail

Bath time with the cousins!!
Visiting G-ma in Rehab. Go Grandma!! You're doing great! Wow! Timmy is having way too much fun visiting Grandma Brown.

Timmy's cousins Maya and Sophie were especially entertaining. He really enjoyed them!
Doesn't this look like a postcard?! This is a golf course near our hotel in Hurricane. If I am a rich old lady - I want to retire here....uh...and take up golf? Well, I guess there was a pool overlooking this view too. I'll lounge by the pool, and drink Pina Coladas :)

Thanks for a great trip everybody! We had a great time!!

The Wicked-Awesome Spry Canyon Trip

Mom and Dad Parker were the best of sports to take Timmy for two whole days and nights so I could go canyoneering with Scott, Dan, Tim and Janice to Zion's National Park.
It was great to go on a classic slot canyon Adventure with the family again. Nothing missing, red rock, beautiful vistas, repelling, dehydration, heat exhaustion....hitchhiking.
It was full-throttle fun!
This is my favorite part of Spry Canyon. The repels go into some deep slots.
Janice - ready to repel after shoring up the webbing on a shaky set up.
Da Boyz
Scotty on the hottest part of the hike. We got a late start and the heat was insane!!
A little glimmer of light in one of the deeper slots.

What a great trip!! Thanks Tim and Janice for taking us!!

Trip to Utah

Man, I just haven't been bloggin' lately. I just wanted to post s'thing really quick from our trip to Utah: my all time favorite picture of the trip. This is Timmy and Uncle Allen chillin together in the pool. Ha! I love it!

We had such a great time with all our family and friends. Thanks everyone who came out to see us and especially our family for spending time with us, putting us up for 2 weeks, letting us borrow their cars, etc.
I'll post more soon!
Love,
KT
