So, I went fishing. Let me tell you the story before you form the inevitable idea that I am a selfish, fish-hungry man to leave my poor wife and child at home to go into the woods for a week. My parents offered to take me canoeing/fishing for a week with my brother and his wife. In my defense, I said no: I didn't want to leave the fam behind. But, Katie made me. Ouch, do you hear that? That's the sound of my arm being twisted.
Anyway, we went to the Boundary Waters in Minnesota, and we caught some large fish. Mine, of course, was the largest. Of course. At times, it felt more like a fat camp than a vacation, with all of the against-the-wind paddling and long portages: but I was starting to lose that Macho Man feeling in my life, (just sitting on my computer all day) so it was much needed. For a better write-up of the trip and some of the hilarious anecdotes, check out my brother's blog: janetstapleton@blogspot.com. I must give a hardy shout-out to my dad for playing the arduous role of trip mastermind: Thanks Dad!!!On a less manly note, Katie took me downtown a couple weeks ago to check out an art gallery with a bunch of mobiles. They were very colorful, and abstract: and she commissioned me to make her a similar one for our living room. Like everything, it takes a few iterations: here is my first crack at it, which is hanging in our living room now. I have a second one in the planning stage right now, but it might take a little while. However, it's good to have a project.
Now, if you've been scanning this post, wondering: "What's going on with Timmy?" I suppose I won't leave you wanting. Timmy is alive still. It was a close one this week. We committed the heinous crime of skipping a few naps last sunday, and the reverberations of that action are still being felt. For 3 days, the little guy woke up every 1/2 hour, just screaming hysterically. We swore to ourselves never to allow a nap to be overlooked again. However, I'm sure that once the circles under our eyes have diminished, we will deny our oath and repeat the follies of Sunday. I just hope that next time that happens, I happen to be going fishing/canoeing for the week.

You caught the biggest fish? I don't think so :)
Those mobiles ARE great! You really should prepare for next year's art fair!
