Brugge, Belgium

We had a weekend with two holidays.  We waited too long to plan a family trip, and ended up barely squeezing out two days to go somewhere.  Obvious choice was Brugge.  Highly recommended by everyone we meet.  Only 2.5 hours drive away.    We first went out to the beach to see the Atlantic.

Ostende Kiteboarders
 Windy at the beach
Can we take the beach home with us?
Scott was delighted by the kiteboarders and wants to....no.....NEEDS to go back and kiteboard.

We stayed the night at the Klein Strand Camping Site in a trailer, which was not the most comfortable sleeping, but a nice new apt with a kitchen, so we could have dinner there.  I rate it two stars....mostly for the low price and nice appearance.

 Brugge Bell Tower
One of the many canal sights
 The canal boat ride

 Belgian Chocolates.  Lavender and Coconut.

Brugge is considered the "Venice of the North" by some, because of the canals, but in a much smaller scale.  A few spots did remind me of Venice.  There are some fun cafes right on the water. Was a very interesting and pretty city to visit for a quick getaway.

Do you just pinch yourself every day and think, "I can't believe we actually LIVE here?!" How fun.
