Aaron's 6th Birthday

We celebrated Aaron's 6th birthday yesterday.  A bit early, because Scott will be at a Conference in NC next week.   He had a Lego CHIMA party.  Thanks to Mike & Bärbel we had a fantastic party.  They decorated this beautiful marzipan cake for Aaron!

We started with a little relay, and each child got a CHI necklace when they finished with candy inside.  The color of their string showed which tribe they belonged to: Fire vs. Ice
We watched 5 Minutes of Chima in case the kids didn't know what it is.
We "powered up" for our treasure hunt and other games with some fresh fruit, drinks and pizza.

Then, Aaron led the kids on a "Schatzsuche" in the Timmer's garden.  He made the map weeks ago, and told us all exactly how he wanted to do the treasure hunt.  It was his idea to draw the garden and then burn the edges to make it a "real" treasure map.
At the end of the treasure hunt, Aaron found his birthday present from the Timmers and a bag of toys and candy for EACH child.

After the treasure hunt, we sang to Aaron, ate cake and ice cream, and opened presents.
He was elated!  So many fun legos!  Plus, a Kid's book about the history of the Dom, which was so thoughtful of his friends to think of.  He will read it and remember Aachen.  Also great gifts because everything is small and easy to take with us to the US this summer.

We had a Speedor race after that with FIRE vs. ICE.  The fire team won with 4 to 3!
We also played pin the CHI on Laval.  Felix had the closest one!
The kids had some rousing "Kicker" games (which we call Fussball in the US) and had two Lego sets put together by the time the parents came to get them. :)

Aaron and I cleaning up the party.  We took a picture of the entrance to the Schatzsuche to remember.  These cute golden scroll holders were hidden all around the garden with the clues in them.

Happy Birthday, Aaron!  We sure love you!

I'm not sure who this HUGE kid is, but it certainly can't be Aaron. Wha?? He grew so much since even your last pictures!!
