Christmas Eve:
We did a service scavenger hunt with a bunch of families in the ward organized by Melissa (thanks Melissa!), where we shopped for a sub-for-santa and drove around town trying to find nice things to do. Eating burgers afterwards is also a nice thing to do:)
We had a mini "Night in Bethlehem", where we setup our little tent in the nook, dressed up a little, and ate on the floor. It wasn't a ton of work and it was fun for the kids. We talked a little bit about what life was like back then, and then watched some Nativity church movies.
Cora especially enjoyed the dress-up!
It was fun until Ollie tumbled down the stairs. This was the kind of tumble where he did not cry afterwards, which is always worrying. Spoiler Alert: he's ok.
Christmas
We made the kids "sleep in" until 7:30, then all went downstairs to check out gifts. You can see the gym mat we got for the basement, and a tv for the basement too.
Katie made some kickin food: French toast casserole and sausage/egg casserole.
The missionaries came over and just hung out with us. We spent a huge amount of time hiking and playing at the beaver pond. Elder Ricks comes from a small town in southwestern Idaho, so he was excited to run around and get back to nature. He got surprisingly into the ice-throwing considering he was still wearing his church clothes!
We came in and they video chatted with their families while we played in the basement. The boys were super excited that Elder Burger was into Magic the gathering, and they got some good tips from him!

Such an idea Christmas. I am taking notes on this Nativity Dinner. Sounds so much easier and more meaningful than the nonsense I am trying to pull off. Yummy Christmas morning food too!
If your bar is set really low, than it's tough not having an ideal Christmas. KT was sick the entire time, so that was a major bummer. It was of course a lot more stressful than I make it sound, I like to look at the past with rosy lenses:)
