Boothbay Maine Day Trip

I took Aaron, Cora and Oliver to Maine one Wednesday before school started.  Scott and Tim were in Germany.  It was kids enter free day at the Coastal Botanical Garden in Boothbay, ME.

The Botanical Garden is gorgeous

But it's quite well known for it's Trolls!

There are 5 of these large troll sculptures in the garden.

Each of them has a clue too, to solve for a special word that gives a clue to 

where the trolls hid their "seeds"

We made a LONG LONG day trip of this outing, rather than paying extra to stay at a hotel.  

It was a 3 hour 10 minute drive up, and a bit longer on the way home.

Touring the garden was well worth the trip up!

We loved it!  But we wanted to try to see a little more while we were there.

Boothbay Harbor, just 15 minutes from the garden

We stopped by Boothbay to check out the town, the harbor scene

and to have fried food at a food stand called Dunton's Doghouse, a tip I got from a local.

We also made a stop at an ice cream stand.

Made a quick stop to the Portsmouth Head Lighthouse on the way home.

We were lucky to catch it right at sunset just before they locked the gate to get in.
