Gearing up for school was especially exciting this year because Cora was starting full day school and getting to ride the bus to and from school!
This is her practice day to ride the bus
All the new Kindergartners get to ride the bus to school and then meet their teacher and see their new classroom.....with their parents!
Cora also got to attend a Mom's Club Back to School Activity at the Park
They took a photo of all the incoming Kindergarteners in town who came.

Because it was Cora's "Einschulung" she got a German Schultuete with some presents inside.
This is a very special tradition in Germany, because starting school is a big deal!
We also enjoyed some Aachener Printen that Aaron brought back from Germany!
Each child got a new watch, even Oliver!
Over the summer, the boys did a great job with their summer reading and keeping up on their math to keep their math brains sharp.
We kept a record of how many books they read for the library reading program.
Aaron read 31 books before August 9th!
Timmy read 45 books before August 9th!
They've each read 10+ more since then too. They love new books, and don't usually like to re-read books very often. Thank goodness for the library! My library receipt says I have saved $23,000 by using my library over the last 3 years!
I asked Scott to build them a special present, a long white bookshelf to help them keep their love of reading a bit more "contained," because their love of books also means that I have a HUGE pile of books on the floor next to their bed, and I'm constantly having to ask the boys to straighten them up into piles and slide them under their bed.
They also each completed a book report on one of the books they read from the school summer reading list.
Whew! Summer homework done! We're ready for a great year!
First day of 6th and 5th grade for Timmy and Aaron

First day of Kindergarten for Cora Jane 2019
......and.......Oliver looks forward each day to when the kids get off the bus to play!
