I really enjoyed seeing some things in the area that I hadn't seen yet, and we had some really fun moments!
I'll first blog about Cami's trip. She brought her two darling kids, Savannah (age 6) and Sawyer (age 10). We headed straight for Vermont early the morning after she arrived! Ouch for them with the time change! But we were determined to take advantage of Columbus Day!
Cami's Trip - Day 1 - Vermont

We had some ice cream and a tour of the factory.
It was not the most impressive tour we've ever been on, but the ice cream.....that was the most impressive ice cream we've had. Truly....amazing.

This is the old stone bridge that is still there from the original road through Vermont. This was a route people would take to travel from Montreal to Boston.
Part of the road still exists here in these woods, but back in those days there were no forests here.
These two were best buddies right off the bat! It was sure cute!

We visited Mack's Apples, a farm where they have U-Pick Apple picking and a great little store with yummy apples, fruit, pies, pumpkins, doughnuts, etc.
We tried a maple cream soda too
I can't believe I had never been here - it was really nice!
We also toured the other parts of our town: The Windham Junction, Robert Frosts Farm, and Searles Castle. We hit the town beach later too.
Day 3: Kennebunkport, ME

Kennebunkport was really beautiful, and has such interesting waterfronts
I can highly recommend the fish tacos!
We even hit up Ben and Jerry's here too!
I can highly recommend Kennebunkport for a stop. Beautiful and charming. Good food, and you can even drive by the Bush's vacation home just a few minutes from town, which is beautiful!
Day 4: Lowell
We got to meet up with Aunt Kathy and Uncle Don in Lowell, MA and see the National Historical Park there.

Day 5: Marblehead
Friends for 30+ years!

What a perfect combo
We really enjoyed seeing "The Neck" of Marblehead and imagining living in one of these great manors by the sea. When Cami is rich and famous, she's going to buy this one behind us and invite me to come sleep in the carriage house and swim in her pool. :)

Day 6: Boston
First stop: Duck Tour of Boston
Scott was the best sport EVER and watched all the kids while Cami and I toured Boston alone!
It was amazing! We did about 10 times as much as we could have with the little kids tagging along, and saw everything on our list!

I'd always wanted to try this tour. It was so much fun, and we had a great tour guide!
We got to tour the cemeteries as slow or fast as we wanted
without worrying about wearing the kids out
The library was just a quick bathroom stop and we were amazed at the interior!

We were super lucky to catch a 30 minute play in the Old South Meeting House that was fascinating.
It was just a 2 actor play about the discussions that went on in that very room 200 years ago. Specifically Prince Hall (a free man) asking for the governor to include in the letters to England a petition for the freedom of the slaves in the Americas. It was very thought provoking to imagine what our country might be like now had the Founding Fathers demanded rights and freedom for ALL the citizens of the USA at that time.
We finished the Freedom Trail late at night, had some delicious pizza in the North End, and headed back to the car.
We tried to go for a drink at the Top of the Hub, but it was pretty crowded, so we just took a look at the view from the bar.
Day 7: Church and Fireside in Worchester, MA
We came to Worchester in the afternoon to hear Elders Ballard and Christopherson
speak.
It was awesome that we ran into my other childhood friend, Michelle, on our way out. She lives in Connecticut now. So fun to meet up with these ladies in New England of all places after all these years!
