Pioneer Day

For Pioneer Day (well, actually the Monday night following) we played "Pioneers." I made little hats for them out of cereal boxes, and suspenders from some twine. We watched a movie about the pioneers, then filled up a wagon with little tents, blankets, food, Book of Mormons, and, of course, stuffed animals. Aaron hopped into the wagon, and we headed off to Utah through the forest. We stopped halfway to setup camp. We setup our tents, sang some songs, read the Book of Mormon, and pretend slept for the night. The next morning, we started the "day" with some beans and water, packed up camp, and made the last push to the Salt Lake Valley (aka our house). The kids got to sleep in the tents in their room, and so ended a very successful Michigan Pioneer Day celebration.
