Halloween and St. Martin's Tag

Halloween Trick or Treating was postponed due to high winds.

So, we did trick or treating on Saturday and hosted St. Martin's Tag on Sunday.

It was a busy and fun weekend!

We went trick or treating in Nate's neighborhood this year, which is a perfect spot!

Stopped by our favorite house on Heritage Hill on the way home.

The next afternoon, we hosted St. Martin's at our home.  It was my favorite German holiday, so we try to keep it alive in our family tradition each year. 

These are my small "Weckmaenner." 

They need a claypipe and to be much bigger to be authentic, but the clay pipes aren't readily available here, and I made them a bit smaller this year to make them easier to eat.

Cora's Star Lantern

We hiked through our trail twice.  Once in a bit of light to make sure everyone could participate, and then again when it was pitch black with our lanterns.  I was surprised that the kids actually wanted to do it!  But they did, and did a great job!

Scott did a great job building a new bridge on Saturday, and leaf blowing the whole trail.  

He even built a new "round about" part of the trail to go around the raised tree stump to make it super easy to walk.  It really made the trail easy to walk for the little ones!

 We listened to a short St. Martin's Day Story, had our little hike and then ate delicious food.

It was a beautiful evening with so many lanterns, lights, and wonderful German friends!
