New York Day 2

 

We had an early appointment for the NYC Temple.

The temple there is so unique

The baptistry is on the first floor, along with the family history library.

The second floor has the distribution center and international church relations office.

The third floor is the normal Sunday meetinghouse.  

The pictures along the halls are like an art gallery!  Beautiful!

The other temple rooms are located on the 4th floor.

Very interesting temple built so creatively in Manhatten with the property the church already owned.

We packed up our bags, checked out and had the hotel hold our baggage.

We were running short on time and I also wanted to have the New York City Taxi experience, so we hailed a taxi, just like in the movies :) and got a lift to Battery Park.

The new vistor's center on Liberty island was amazing!

We learned so much about the creation and inspiration of the statue.

It was very inspiring.

We learned that in the 80's the lady liberty structure started rusting.

All the iron supports had to be replaced with stainless steel.

The thrice remodeled torch is in the museum.  A gold torch now graces the statue with the orginal design.

The boys loved this interactive screen.  They played here for a long time!

Ellis island had just as much to see!

These were the dormatories on Ellis island, only they were stacked twice as high.  

One toilet for scores of people.

There is a really cool carousel on Battery Park.  It glows at night and is like nothing I have seen!

It's a kiddie ride, so we agreed that Cora and Ollie needed to do it when they come to the city.

This restaurant was highly recommended around NYC in trip advisor, so I was pleased we found one closeby to try.  The cactus was not our favorite, but the meat tacos were mucho fantastico!

at the Ed Sullivan Theatre.

I got the car, we loaded the bags and drove home, leaving at 8:30 pm.  We arrived home at about 12:30 am, and I got to sleep at about 1:30 am.  Got up at 6 am for choir rehearsal....busy few days, but so fun!

I was so glad we could finally go!  The boys loved it!
